What is Reiki? Reiki is a Japanese spiritual and healing practice that supports you in feeling more connected to life. Reiki is a system, a set number of practices, that you can use to develop your energetic connection to life and this offers the practitioner many benefits You can either experience a Reiki treatment or study how to practice Reiki for yourself. A Reiki treatment is one-hour long and is useful for specific healing or general relaxation. The client remains fully clothed at all times as the practitioner goes through a set healing process placing hands on or just off the body as agreed with the client prior to the treatment. Sex, age and condition are of no concern as the client's own body controls this energetic process. During the treatment the body will only take the amount of energy that it requires. A Reiki treatment is not intrusive and clients do not remove clothing and no private parts of the body are touched. If a client is wishing to work on a specific issue or health problem it is advisable to book for three one-hour treatments. But first come along for one treatment to see if you like the experience. A 2-day Reiki course (called Shoden) will teach you: meditation techniques to strengthen and clear your energy to gain a clearer understanding of the working of energy in your life and its benefits to find a spiritual connection to life helping you to feel happier and healthier to heal the self and others using hand positions on or near the body Who is the International House of Reiki? This International Reiki centre prides itself on its professionalism, student support systems and strong ethics. Its founders, Frans and Bronwen Stiene, are also the authors of a number of critically acclaimed books about the system of Reiki including The Reiki Sourcebook , The Japanese Art of Reiki and Your Reiki Treatment. The International House of Reiki is honoured to be able to teach a traditional Japanese system of Reiki called Usui Reiki Ryoho. Usui Reiki Ryoho means Usui Spiritual Energy Healing Method and is a non-Westernised form of Reiki which attempts to return to the very source of Usui Mikao's teachings. It has been practiced in Japan since the early 1900s, long before the system of Reiki came to the West. This particular method includes physical and energy enhancing exercises to help practitioners delve deeper into their Reiki practice. The earlier teachings consider the system not just to be a hands-on-healing practice but one that also focuses on a student’s spiritual path.
